Some very cool design. Go to Benji’s Blog for more info and check out his post on augmented reality, also very cool.

Just before Christmas I went to the Dieter Rams exhibition at The Design Museum and was blown away by it. For those people who are not familer with him, Dieter Rams is one of the most influential product/industrial designers of the last century. He is mainly recognised for the products that he has created over the years for Braun but this exhibition delves further into his life and work.
One of his most famous quotes; “less, but better” completely sums up what his work his all about. From the furniture to electrical products everything on display at this exhibition oozes style and class. He is quite clearly an influence on modern day greats, such as Jonathan Ive at Apple.

As well as incredible content, the exhibition graphics to accompany (designed by London agency, Biblioteque), were perfectly executed and super stylish in their own right. All in all a great exhibition – one I would happily go to again.

As it is christmas and all here’s an appropriately themed post – check out Florences version of Last Christmas by Wham.
Posts will be few and far between until the new year and we will also be making some improvements to the blog. Please check back in the New Year, but untill then have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
A really great article in this months Creative Review looking at the street art in Philidelphia. The article charts the history and progress of the city’s Mural Arts Program, which was set up over 20 years to control the amount of illegal graffiti by refocusing the talents of the writers towards painting commissioned Murals instead.

For me the rise in popularity of the ‘street-art’ movement in the last decade has led it to feel a bit exhausted, but this article it re-addresses what made street art so fascinating in the first place. The Murals aim to inspire the communities with bold, positive messages, but for me this is all the incredible hand rendered typography. I’ve never been to Phillie but this makes me want to go – amazing!
More of the same can be found on A love letter for you.

I’ve just had my first flick through issue 1 of INVENTORY MAGAZINE, the print evolution of the popular h(y)r collective blog/brand. It looks very nice indeed, good product, strong editorial and interviews with some of the key people in the work wear denim industry. Check out the site, find yourself a copy (available from albam in London) and learn to dress like a man.

I spent a large part of my childhood dressed in lincoln green, making bows and arrows and pretending I was in Robin Hoods gang. Lets face it, he was the original English, rebel, anti-hero. Robin Hood Prince of Thieves is one of my favourite films ever (controversial i know), I dont see anyone topping Alan Rickmans Sheriff of Nottingham. However with Ridley Scott behind the lens and Russel Crow in the lead this is bound to be some Epic, suitably violent, shit. Lets hope its more Gladiator than Kingdom of Heaven.
For me, Ironman was surprisingly good and after Batman the best of the comic book films. Robert Downey-Junior is great and Gwyneth hasn’t looked better since sliding doors. The script was neat and it actually had a decent story, unlike the X-men films. Lets hope this sequel is in keeping.
Allow me to introduce myself, my name is Joe Russell. I’m a graphic designer living and working in London.
I’m delighted to say I will be contributing to OWTIC on a regular basis from this point onwards. Hopefully I will enlighten you with some interesting design related things over time but I will also be posting up some cool bits and pieces that I come across.
My first post will be a bit of shameless self promotion for the company I work for, MARC&ANNA. We are a small graphic design agency specialising in print but we generally like to get our hands dirty with anything creative. Below is a book we designed for Lawrence King publishing called Creative Space, which explores the homes of artists, illustrators, art directors and designers from six major cities around the world. As well as being beautifully designed (nothing wrong with a bit of modesty!), it is also a very interesting and inspiring read. I’d definitely recommend to get a copy – a rather nice Xmas present me thinks!
