We first heard about the conception of Percival back in the summer last year and OWTIC is thrilled to announce that it launches its debut AW/10 collection this Thursday. Designed by Chris Gove, Luke Stenzhorn and Olivia Hegarty the collection consists of 16 garments across all styles and colours. Designed in London and manufactured in London, fabrics used include; Harris Tweed, beeswax cotton from Scotland, chunky lambs wool, heavyweight Melton from Yorkshire and fine Portuguese cotton melange. I dropped Chris a line to find out a bit more about the inspiration behind Percival and this is what he said:
“From a distance we wanted the collection looks like classic worker wear, but we tried to subvert that idea when you take a closer look and start noticing the polka dot, large plaid and pinstripe linings to various jackets and shirts. We had the idea that the linings would almost be secretive in a boyish and cheeky way – you could choose to show those elements if you roll up a sleeve or leave a jacket open. We are still so childish – always fighting, climbing stuff etc – but then we have to go to work and act serious. So the range was really trying to echo those ideologies.”
From these preview shots Percival appears to be very much in the healthy vein of other young British labels Folk and Albam, not a bad thing at all. The collection will be on sale from August/September time, We’re still waiting to hear how much it will cost and where its set to retail but as soon as we know, we’ll be sure to let you know (that’s after we’ve been and bought the best pieces for ourselves of course).
Percival launches on Thursday at The Book Club in Shoreditch, check the website for updates www.percivalclo.com.
