Steve McQueen, the iconic anti-hero. You can’t get much cooler than this guy.
Daria looking casual and super sexy at home in her New York loft in this shoot for Dossier, reminicent of Erin Wassons Selby interview. Cass Bird describes Ms.Werbowy house as having ” a cook’s kitchen, with lots of roasted root vegetables and bottles of wine. We had so much wine and beets that our teeth and lips were stained red… not the best food choice for a shoot”. More pics after the jump..

I met Jane Stockdale a few years ago when she came in to the studio I worked at at the time to show her photos. Since then she has quickly elevated herself to one of the best documentary photographers around these parts.
As a photographer she has a breathtaking ability to not only get herself in places and situations that seem near impossible and potentially life threatening, but also dig out a perfect shot that captures the mood and feeling of the environment before her.
When I first met her I was blown away by her photos and stories and nothing has changed today. I caught up with her in between her busy schedule to ask her a few questions.
Hi Jane. Tell us a little about yourself and how you got to where you are now.
I live in London, studied in Edinburgh and am from a little town in the north of Scotland. I moved to the states when I was 16 to go to high school in New Jersey, started photographing bands on my dads canon AE1-program and have pretty much been taking photos ever since.

NOBODY documents the darker side of life better than Boogie… that man gets into some crazy situations.
As young gentlemen trawl the sartorial archives of their fathers and grandfathers in an attempt to stand out in the overcrowded vintage hipster scene, small details have started to shout out and develop as fully blown trends. Guys have increasingly been turning to man-jewellery, and other accessories such as combs, keychains, cigarette cases and my personal favourite: the tie pin. After picking up my gold Yves Saint Laurent piece at the Brooklyn Flee last year (Fig 1) I’ve been using it as much as possible, with or without a tie. And my newest silver purchase from Spitalfields market a month or so ago is gonna look great this summer with the selvedge Hillside denim tie I’ve got my sights on.
Picking up the trend is model Ollie Edwards in the summer Dunhill campaign (Fig 2)…and if its good enough for head designer Kim Jones, its good enough for me. Add to that next winters collection by American urban-prep powerhouse J.Crew and you got the confirmation that its time to start dressing a bit sharper (Fig 3).
J Crew senior menswear designer Frank Muytjens was nominated for the GQ designer of the year award recently and has helped turn the brand around, from boring U.S highstreet stalwart to real fashion player. Their suiting lines and heritage classics (such as my favourite chambray workshirt and chunky cable knit cardigan) have become the man-essentials of the last few seasons and proves Mr Frank knows what he’s on about. So get yourself down Portobello way on Friday or any other local car-boot and pick up an inexpensive yet stylish tie-pin which will help you set the bar that bit higher whilst you channel your inner Ratpack.
Stuck in a Groove / Phonovideo from Clemens Kogler on Vimeo.
My mate Tosh sent me a link to this video and as he says on his excellent somnolentdeluxe blog: Brilliant hybrid animation with a sharp, witty narrative by Clemens Kogler.Using printed cardboard and turntables.
“Phonovideo is a VJ tool or visual instrument used to display animations in an analog way without the help of a computer. “Stuck in a Groove” is the first film made with this technique, it serves also as a demo for the technique . In the future phonovideo should be used for live performances in cooperations with musicians, performancers and other artists. The music for “Stuck in a Groove” was created by Richard Eigner/ Ritornell.”

Last year I stumbled upon the greatest forum thread I’ve ever seen. It belonged to 28dayslater.co.uk, a community of ‘urban archaeologists’, who explore abandoned industrial buildings across the country. One of their raisons d’etre is to capture what they find in stunning images. This particular thread is of the protagonists – the urban archaeologists themselves – in the places they explore. The majority of the images deliberately obscure their faces, as the pursuit is of dubious legality. The effect is captivating, rendering the explorers as mysterious, Gotham-esque vigilantes.
I also covered the explorers for the Guardian, joining them on a exploration of a Victorian culvert underneath Coventry, and an abandoned textiles plant in Leicester. Check out some more of the best images from the thread after the jump.
