My mate Joe was cracking me up with his impression of Coco last night and as a result I’ve had the song stuck in my head so I figured I’d post it this morning. It also gives me the perfect opportunity to mention that she’s playing at the Queen of Hoxton tomorrow night after Field Day, supported by the excellent Phantom, they’ve got a late license and a new funktion One soundsystem, sounds good, see ya there.
Shacklewell Nights is a new hidden dining Venture based in a former clothing Factory in Dalston. It is a collaboration between Claire Roberson of Green Onion’s Supper Club and Jonathan Woolway of St Johns Restaurant, it’ll be open for two nights every two months. It opens this weekend, so better book now. Check out the blog for the menu and reservations.
I had my first supper club experience last Friday At Fernandez and Leluu’s, I highly recommend it, the food was great and good value (6 courses for £35) definitely a fun and different way of dining out. Good article over at Timesonline with info on a selection of londons best supper clubs.

Time to get the DIY kit out and try and follow in Harisson Krix’s 749 footsteps to make this fully functioning Daft Punk Helmet!!
It took him over 17 months, but the finished product looks well worth it.. Now i just need someone who is any good at making things to help me out! Any volunteers?
Check out the very cool video after the Jump!

Now every berk in the world and his dog has a pair of sodding Wayfarers, the pressure is back on to drop some nickel-brass alloy on a nice pair of cans and claw back the same admiring looks you won back when you first blagged a pair of 5022′s off your dad. Once again, the time has come to dispose of that which was hitherto desirable, but what to choose?
Selecting a suitable pair of sunglasses is no trifling matter and you need look no further than the hoards of bug-eyed girls sporting Dennis Taylor’s cast-offs to appreciate that something complimentary to your facial structure is more important than blindly following trend.
Much of Wayfarers’ enduring popularity can be attributed to their iconic lines. Neither ovoid nor angular they occupy a pleasing middle ground that flatters sculpted cheekbones and recessive chins alike. Pretty much everyone looks good in Wayfarers which is probably why we’re all clinging onto them like photo’s of ex girlfriends and Barbour Bedales.
Opinions aside, there are a slew of alternatives knocking about on and offline this summer and at prices to suit every pocket. The high street shows no sign of slowing down the rip and release model that sees big retailers like ASOS and Topshop reproducing designer frames for pocket money. Bad luck for snobs, thumbs up if you want to cop a pair of reasonable Moscot copies for the price of a couple of ales

It’s been a good year for fashion behemoths Ralph Lauren, who have presented one of their strongest collections to date.
If you can pull them off these Illesteva Leonards are the absolute business, both the honey and contrasting tortoiseshell colourways are very nice indeed.
Mosely Tribes, an imprint for Eyewear heavyweight’s Oliver Peoples are another burgeoning US brand yet to make a serious impression on European Shores. Their Lyndel model is especially snappy and bang on trend with keyhole detailing and acetate frame. Uk distributors, please stand up.
Ages ago I posted about the Old Spice ”The Man Your Man Could Smell Like’ advert. Since then they have released a load more adverts that have gone on to become a viral masterpiece, rejuvenated Old Spice as a brand and won endless awards for their troubles.
However, for me, one of the best things to come from this brilliant campaign is the all the spoofs and parody’s of the advert that I keep seeing about. The one above, for Harold B. Lee Library, is by far my favourite… it is fucking brilliant!
Simply put, this ad is a shameless rip-off executed incredibly well, but above all else it just reminds you of how good the original was and leaves you with a desire to watch it again (well, I did anyway!). Another example of how much Old Spice have smashed it with this campaign.
So this is pretty blaaaady cool. A few friends of mine are currently involved in the marketing and promotion in the UK of Flexible Love – an amazing folding chair that can be stretched and reshaped in various ways to seat as many as 16 people.
Designed by Chishen Chiu, the chair uses an accordion-like, honeycomb structure to enable it to fluently expand and contract. As well as being a brilliant piece of product design the chair also ticks all the environmental boxes, being made from fully recyclable materials. Whether you would or wouldn’t want in your living room this is undoubtedly a great idea and an even greater example of how a material can perfectly dictated a form.
There will be a demonstration tent down at 1234 Shoreditch festival this weekend, so be sure to check it out if you’re heading down. If not then check the video above.
Here’s our first Kill Em All radio show in conjunction with the nice chaps at Mixcloud. It’s a selection of new bands and club music that represent our Kill Em All nights as well as music from artists that have influenced and informed them. Plus some ramblings from us.
Enjoy.
I can’t wait to see Phoenix, lets all hope that the curse of Field Day is lifted and its super sunny. As always the lineup is bang on point, bar Phoenix we are especially looking forward to seeing the likes of Gold Panda and Caribou, whatever the weather the east end crowd are shore to turn out for Victoria Parks best festival, see you down the front. Loving this vid of the P22 Chorus posted on the website, they’re a 5th grade choir from New York, something like the real life Glee, their Gaga cover is BIG.
So… as a result of drinking too much beer whilst the world cup has been on, a couple of trips away and a bit of site development, we’ve all been incredibly slack this last couple of weeks with posting. But anyway, we’re back, no longer distracted by the beautiful game and and ready to dig out some wicked shit from around the world.
First up, check out these amazing black and white underwater photos by Wayne Levin. The flatness of these desaturated shots captures something about this environment that I don’t think you get with colour photography – a brilliant representation of an unknown, eerie world. Make sure you go over to his site to check out some more.
