Check out this video where some of worlds best riders take part in a 3D art project involving a huge 3D Projection Mapping installation. The riders are tracked by infra-red in real time and appear to have direct interactions with the projections on the 2 jumps and giant inflatable sphere in the middle.

The event, known as Red Bull Off The Planet, was created by ENNES in Melbourne, Australia. Check out the more in depth ‘making of’ video after the jump…!

Dentsu London have created an interesting stop motion video titled “Making Future Magic: iPad Light Painting”. The interesting part is that it is composed of hundreds (possibly thousands) of light painted images that were created using an iPad.

The result is a very cool video, which includes a breakdown of how it all works so you get an idea of how complicated the whole thing was to create.

We’ve posted about something similar to this before but it doesn’t make this any less amazing. The juxtaposition of the old decrepit castle and the contemporary visual projection is what makes this fucking cool. I love the shots in which you can see the whole town underneath the insanely animated castle. Imagine how trippy this would be had you just been randomly walking past.

This architectural mapping projection from the Branchage Film Festival was done by London Seeper.

A friend sent me this wicked image he took down at Collect 2010 an art fair for contemporary objects put on by the Craft Council. Unfortunately the fair has finished now but this really nice idea by Caroline Broadhead was apparently one of a number of great things at the fair. One to pop in the diary for next year me thinks. Cheers Marc!

If you have ever wanted to live somewhere with a fantastic view, say San Fransisco bay or perhaps Sydney Harbour, but have never had the opportunity, then Rational Craft have the perfect solution for you with Winscape. The only problem is you will need two huge plasma televisions, a fairly powerful computer, a spare Wii remote, light sensor and Handy Andy to build it all for you!!

The result is actually quite cool.. A dual window display with a choice of scenes, that actually move depending on where you are in relation to the window to give you a very convincing depth perspective. You do have to wear a big piece of metal around your neck, but its worth it right?

This video is a quick showcase of some of apples most noteworthy products from the last 34 years, right up to the iPad that was announced last month. The thing that makes it interesting is that each one is a fully realised 3D rendering done in 3D Studio Max and v-Ray Render. Whats more impressive is that it only took them 10 days to complete!

George Bohle Piano table

George Bohle Piano table

A great idea from Georg Bohle that makes my dining room table (that I literally bought last night) seem ever so boring.

The table houses an 88-key electric piano hidden within its insides that is ready to play as soon as those dishes have left the table. This nice innovative idea, hand crafted from solid oak, looks as though it’s had all the attention it deserves on the design front as well. One more pic after the jump.

This amazing piece of 3D illusionary-projection art is the work of German artist Daniel Rossa. Amongst other things, Rossa works as a freelance creative director for Urbanscreen, a German company who love nothing more than projecting giant moving images on to large urban spaces. This piece, entitled ’555 Kubik’, was projected onto the huge, flat, grey surface of the Hamburg Kunsthalle with the aim of breaking through the building’s ‘strict architecture’. As Rossa more romantically imagines, it’s ‘how it would be if a house was dreaming’.
