Autumn is just around the corner and adjustments to the wardrobe are gonna have to be made. I’m hoping to get some key purchases in early to get full use of them, these are two items that recently caught my eye; SeaVees trail Boots, I’m into the moccasin style and I prefer these to the Yuketen ones and this Ally Capellino rucksack, which offers a really good modern twist on the vintage scoutpack.
Now every berk in the world and his dog has a pair of sodding Wayfarers, the pressure is back on to drop some nickel-brass alloy on a nice pair of cans and claw back the same admiring looks you won back when you first blagged a pair of 5022′s off your dad. Once again, the time has come to dispose of that which was hitherto desirable, but what to choose?
Selecting a suitable pair of sunglasses is no trifling matter and you need look no further than the hoards of bug-eyed girls sporting Dennis Taylor’s cast-offs to appreciate that something complimentary to your facial structure is more important than blindly following trend.
Much of Wayfarers’ enduring popularity can be attributed to their iconic lines. Neither ovoid nor angular they occupy a pleasing middle ground that flatters sculpted cheekbones and recessive chins alike. Pretty much everyone looks good in Wayfarers which is probably why we’re all clinging onto them like photo’s of ex girlfriends and Barbour Bedales.
Opinions aside, there are a slew of alternatives knocking about on and offline this summer and at prices to suit every pocket. The high street shows no sign of slowing down the rip and release model that sees big retailers like ASOS and Topshop reproducing designer frames for pocket money. Bad luck for snobs, thumbs up if you want to cop a pair of reasonable Moscot copies for the price of a couple of ales

It’s been a good year for fashion behemoths Ralph Lauren, who have presented one of their strongest collections to date.
If you can pull them off these Illesteva Leonards are the absolute business, both the honey and contrasting tortoiseshell colourways are very nice indeed.
Mosely Tribes, an imprint for Eyewear heavyweight’s Oliver Peoples are another burgeoning US brand yet to make a serious impression on European Shores. Their Lyndel model is especially snappy and bang on trend with keyhole detailing and acetate frame. Uk distributors, please stand up.
Totally late on this one but saw it on PTLDME the other day and loved it, to quote; “It captures the feeling of summer break in the 90′s; the days of near- sighted wanderlust and learning how to play Nirvana songs on the guitar.” Sophmore are a New York based label, check their shit here.
” Traveling Denim ” Recording color fade for two years from Takayuki Akachi on Vimeo.
Travelling Denim is a film made by Takayuki Akachi which records denim fading over a two-year, 50 country trip around the world. Its great to watch the denim wear against the backdrops of so many different cultures. Listen up Levi’s, this is a great ad campaign!

I was down at the vintage showroom the other day, researching for a new line of English made clothing we’re doing at work. In my opinion these guys have the best collection of vintage for mens apparel, they work with a range of brands from Galliano to J.Crew. It’s by appointment only and not cheap, If you’ve ever wandered why there is no good vintage in any of the highstreet “vintage”, or “thrift”, stores its because dealers like this and the Japanese have it all. I got a little over excited when Douglas produced this 1960’s Donkey Jacket with leather back and sleeves. The leather trim is hard to find as most are made with vinyl and the L.B.H stands for London Borough of H….. (insert London borough beginning with H, Doug didn’t know). This fit me like a glove if I’d had £200 to drop on next winters coat this would’ve got snapped up for sure. The other gem of the afternoon was a dead stock, 1940’s, Special Forces, desert smock in a mottled cappuccino colour. Forget the Albam fishing cagoule, this reproduced in wax cotton, lined for winter is going to be amazing. The brands called British Khaki and launches at the end of July, watch this space.
