Recently been looking for some new furniture and found this amazing London based furniture designer called Rupert Blanchard who collects different odd draws and then rehouses them in plywood boxes.

His blog, Styling & Salvage, is a really good read, it has loads of stories highlighting where he has sourced all the different draws from all over the country.

I’ve been meaning to post about this for a while now, OWTIC contributor Benji Lanyado put me on to it a couple of months ago. Airbnb is a website where people advertise their flats or rooms to rent to travellers. There’s some amazing apartments available and for great prices. Forget being ripped off by hotels or having to share hostel rooms with 100 crustys, live like a local instead, Airbnb is the way forward.

I’m currently trying to talk myself into regular excersise, I haven’t done any since I was 18 and the beer consumption is starting to show. I think swimming is the way forward and alfresco is alot more pleasant, so living in Hackney, London Fields Lido is the place but what to do when it closes over the winter? indoor public pools are usually so rank. The newly re-opened Marshall street baths (yes I read the Metro too) in the middle of soho looks to be the answer, originally opened in 1931 and closed in 1997 for health and safety reasons, Westminster council have spent a few million quid refurbing them for the public and as you can see they look bloody great. What a great setting to swim in.

If you have ever wanted to live somewhere with a fantastic view, say San Fransisco bay or perhaps Sydney Harbour, but have never had the opportunity, then Rational Craft have the perfect solution for you with Winscape. The only problem is you will need two huge plasma televisions, a fairly powerful computer, a spare Wii remote, light sensor and Handy Andy to build it all for you!!

The result is actually quite cool.. A dual window display with a choice of scenes, that actually move depending on where you are in relation to the window to give you a very convincing depth perspective. You do have to wear a big piece of metal around your neck, but its worth it right?

This is the first video I have ever directed, on the Wilton’s Music Hall in Tower Hamlets – a truly incredible place with a past punctuated with significant historical events. It was here that Champagne Charlie grew to fame, where the London Dockers congregated during the Docker’s Strike, and where East End rebels sought refuge during the Battle of Cable Street. And it’s still going – wait until the end of the film for recent footage of a Magic Numbers gig there.

Huge thanks to Felix Clay for shooting the whole thing, and to Christian Bennett for cutting it.

If I had a house in upstate New York this is what I’d want it to look like.
A converted barn with large open rooms, bare timber, beams, battered rugs, a wild overgrown garden, swimming pool and a table tennis table. One barn for living and working, one for partying. A solid kitchen, kitchen garden and a large Dog. The lack of clutter and sense of space makes you feel relaxed just looking at the photos. Idyllic.

more pics after the jump and run over to The Selby for the complete profile.

This is the Madrid residence of fashion designer David Delfin and photographer Gorka Postigo. Filled with 1940’s – 60’s furniture and an array of artworks by the likes of Juergen Teller, Diane Arbus, Wolfgang Tillmans, Juan Gatti and Gorka Postigo It is undoubtedly an amazing space. The juxtaposition between the clean white walls, Industrial furnishings and artworks creates a strong aesthetic throughout. It also feels correct for Madrid and a warm climate. Context for buildings is important, somehow this wouldn’t work in the English countryside, wouldn’t look bad in East London though.
