Recently been looking for some new furniture and found this amazing London based furniture designer called Rupert Blanchard who collects different odd draws and then rehouses them in plywood boxes.

His blog, Styling & Salvage, is a really good read, it has loads of stories highlighting where he has sourced all the different draws from all over the country.

With an all star cast including Koby Bryant, Kanye West, Bruce Willis and Danny “Machete” Trejo, this 5 minute long Nike advert directed by Robert Rodriguez, surely must be up there with the most expensive adverts ever made. Very cool indeed.. even if you don’t like basketball!

Destroyed Ipod Nano\'s

Michael Tompert has created a homage to Apple by destroying some of its more iconic products from the last few years. Using a variety of methods, including shooting holes in them or running them over with a train, he has created a highly detailed and beautiful set of photo’s, which he showed off last week in an exhibition in California.

“As the title implies, Graphic Design for Fashion opens the door to the world of graphic design for fashion bringing together a well-curated selection of contemporary work, accompanied by interviews in which the studios reveal something of their process for expressing themselves creatively and exclusive insights into the projects themselves.” – septemberindustry (click for full interview with Jay and Simone).

Autumn is just around the corner and adjustments to the wardrobe are gonna have to be made. I’m hoping to get some key purchases in early to get full use of them, these are two items that recently caught my eye; SeaVees trail Boots, I’m into the moccasin style and I prefer these to the Yuketen ones and this Ally Capellino rucksack, which offers a really good modern twist on the vintage scoutpack.

Daft Punk Helmet

Time to get the DIY kit out and try and follow in Harisson Krix’s 749 footsteps to make this fully functioning Daft Punk Helmet!!

It took him over 17 months, but the finished product looks well worth it.. Now i just need someone who is any good at making things to help me out! Any volunteers?

Check out the very cool video after the Jump!

Now every berk in the world and his dog has a pair of sodding Wayfarers, the pressure is back on to drop some nickel-brass alloy on a nice pair of cans and claw back the same admiring looks you won back when you first blagged a pair of 5022′s off your dad. Once again, the time has come to dispose of that which was hitherto desirable, but what to choose?

Selecting a suitable pair of sunglasses is no trifling matter and you need look no further than the hoards of bug-eyed girls sporting Dennis Taylor’s cast-offs to appreciate that something complimentary to your facial structure is more important than blindly following trend.

Much of Wayfarers’ enduring popularity can be attributed to their iconic lines. Neither ovoid nor angular they occupy a pleasing middle ground that flatters sculpted cheekbones and recessive chins alike. Pretty much everyone looks good in Wayfarers which is probably why we’re all clinging onto them like photo’s of ex girlfriends and Barbour Bedales.

Opinions aside, there are a slew of alternatives knocking about on and offline this summer and at prices to suit every pocket. The high street shows no sign of slowing down the rip and release model that sees big retailers like ASOS and Topshop reproducing designer frames for pocket money. Bad luck for snobs, thumbs up if you want to cop a pair of reasonable Moscot copies for the price of a couple of ales

It’s been a good year for fashion behemoths Ralph Lauren, who have presented one of their strongest collections to date.

If you can pull them off these Illesteva Leonards are the absolute business, both the honey and contrasting tortoiseshell colourways are very nice indeed.

Mosely Tribes, an imprint for Eyewear heavyweight’s Oliver Peoples are another burgeoning US brand yet to make a serious impression on European Shores. Their Lyndel model is especially snappy and bang on trend with keyhole detailing and acetate frame. Uk distributors, please stand up.

So this is pretty blaaaady cool.  A few friends of mine are currently involved in the marketing and promotion in the UK of Flexible Love – an amazing folding chair that can be stretched and reshaped in various ways to seat as many as 16 people.

Designed by Chishen Chiu, the chair uses an accordion-like, honeycomb structure to enable it to fluently expand and contract. As well as being a brilliant piece of product design the chair also ticks all the environmental boxes, being made from fully recyclable materials. Whether you would or wouldn’t want in your living room this is undoubtedly a great idea and an even greater example of how a material can perfectly dictated a form.

There will be a demonstration tent down at 1234 Shoreditch festival this weekend, so be sure to check it out if you’re heading down. If not then check the video above.

Disco Chair

The name may conjure up visions of a tacky throwback from the 70′s, but this is actually one cool looking chair.. i would definitely buy one!

Its made from 200 meters of Electroilluminescant wire which can be flashed on and off for your own home disco effect.

The new iPhone was finally released today to a chorus of cheers from the patient Apple fans around the world.

Queues formed outside stores throughout the uk in the early hours (or yesterday in the case of Apples flagship uk store in Regent street), and I’m afraid to say that I was in one of them.. Were you?

A good friend of mine, Connie Wright, knitted these amazing Nike shoes in collaboration with THIS IS STUDIO for Nike 78 – a project initiated by Paul Jenkins in which he asked various creatives to challenge the function of a pair of Nike shoes.

Quite possibly a biased opinion but for me these are fo’ sho’ the best creation on show, and with around 100 hours spent knitting no doubt the pair with most effort put into them. Check some other cool ones after the jump or hit up the online gallery for other all the other outcomes.
